IUD CLINIC
Riverbend Medical Clinic provides IUD education, insertion, and check ups for our patients. IUD (Intra-Uterine Device) is a small T shaped device that is inserted into the uterus. IUDs can either be plastic or copper. The plastic IUDs emit hormones and last for an average of 5 years while the copper IUDs do not have any hormones and last for 10 years. Women will have a consultation with our experienced doctors to determine which option is best for their unique situations and health history.
Women react differently to IUDs, however it is the most effective method of birth control that women have. A patient thinking of getting an IUD must see a doctor before insertion. It is critical that the woman has a full understanding of the device and its effectiveness before making the decision to get one. Women must also go through a screening process that includes testing for Sexually Transmitted Infections and other medical conditions.
