DR. ADAM NEUFELD (MSC, MD, CCFP, FAMILY PHYSICIAN)

Dr. Adam Neufeld received his M.D. at the University of Saskatchewan in 2020, before completing his residency in 2022, at the University of Calgary. It was there that he acted as Co-Chief Resident for the Family Medicine program and sat on the executive board for the College of Family Physicians of Canada’s (CFPC) Section of Residents. Prior to this, Dr. Neufeld completed a B.A. in Psychology and M.Sc. in Behavioural Neuroscience, from Carleton University, specializing in health psychology. He has a passion for medical education and humanities research and is actively involved in teaching, scholarship, and community outreach.

Dr. Neufeld has a warm and professional demeanour and takes pride in delivering quality care across the lifespan (from prenatal and newborn care to care of the elderly and palliative care). He is easy going, non-judgmental, and uses an autonomy-supportive approach, where the goal is to listen and help based on each patient’s specific needs and goals. Dr. Neufeld also takes a holistic approach to medicine, which incorporates the mind-body connection and each person’s background and social context. In other words, he aims to meet patients where they “are” and to treat the person first – not the illness.

Though a generalist at heart, Dr. Neufeld has background interests and training in exercise science, nutrition, and obesity management, sports medicine, and mental health. He also provides office-based counselling (e.g., for managing stress, energy/sleep problems, anxiety and depression), and does in-office procedures, including joint and trigger point injections (e.g., for joint and musculoskeletal pain), occipital nerve blocks (e.g., for migraine and tension headaches), excisions and biopsies (e.g., for skin tags, moles, cysts, corns and warts), toenail wedge resections (e.g., for recurrent pains and infections), and contraceptive device insertion/removal (e.g., Nexplanon implant). He hopes to offer additional procedures in the future, such as vasectomy and sclerotherapy for varicose and spider veins.
